Seaford win away at Shoreham

Seaford travelled along the coast to Shoreham in today’s Sussex Spitfire 1 game, the weather was one of snow and well a win would soon warm the players up.
Seaford got off to a fantastic start with pen kick from Paul Hardwick to give an early 3-0 lead, Seaford then went over the try line with Jasper Cooper picking up the try and Hardwick sticking over the conversion to take a 10-0 lead after 15mins. Just before half time Shoreham stuck over a pen to bring it back to 10-3 due to some Seaford poor discipline. On the stroke of half time Hardwick had another penalty from a difficult angle and went wide of the posts.

With both teams coming out refreshed Shoreham set the tone by relying on their heavy pack, Shoreham missed an early pen and followed not long after by missing another pen. Seaford poor discipline around the ruck area was playing right into Shoreham hands, Seaford came back with pressure and had a pen of their own which again went wide of the stick, Shoreham dominated most the 2nd half and Seaford poor discipline continued and Newby picking up a yellow card, With the clock running down and 6mins to go Shoreham stuck over another pen to bring the game back to 6-10 and what would bring a nail biting finish to a tough game, Shoreham piled on pressure and then Seaford got a good break and broke through into their half but a forward pass meant a try by Paul Burns was ruled out.

Seaford saw out the rest of the game and won 6-10 in what was a good victory after a few weeks of having no league games, and closing in on Hove in the league.
