Seaford ladies go down to battling encounter away at Ellingham

Ellingham 29 -Seaford 10

Seaford ladies travelled to Ellingham and Ringwood on Sunday for their league clash, with Ellingham top of the table Seaford where going to have to be on top of their game to cause an upset.
Seaford got off to the best possible start with the forwards working hard in the breakdowns. Within 10mins Seaford where 0-5 up thanks to good forward work in break down and a quick offload to Lucy Diton who touched down to give Seaford a very deserved early lead, Alex conversion just came up short. The game continued evenly but just before half time Ellingham found some space and touched over to make it 5-5, Ellingham failed to convert and the teams went in 5-5 at HT.

The 2nd half Ellingham came out strong and got a quick turnover and touched over and got the conversion to take the lead 12-5.
Seaford stepped up a gear and battled hard to keep the ball in hand, with a try coming when Diton popped the ball out to Captain Nadine Fox who broke through the defence line to get the game back to 12-10. Ellingham came back very hard and eventually run out 29-10 winners. Seaford still in their first season showed against the best team in the league how far they have come.

Captain Nadine Fox said “Seaford Stepped up and battled hard for possession and matched the opposition well, it was a great effort all round”
Team manager Ian Newby was equally impressed “while defeat is never nice, that was the best team performance from Seaford this season and shows how far the team have come”
